Description

The word Gudi pronounced “Guthi” means prayer in Old Irish language. Each acorn represents the characters of the lepontic Gaulish script for this particular style. The Lepontic Gaulish alphabet contain 18 characters used for transliteration of Gaulish. The Lepontic region is located in modern Northern Italy, particularly around areas like Lugano in Switzerland and the Lake Como and Lake Maggiore regions. To pronounce fully “prayer beads” in Old Irish would be “Glainne Gudi”, ( Glannyuh-Guthi)

Gudi acorns are harvested with proper intent and made with blessings. The 36 Acorn Beads + 1 ( Druid bead ) represents the male and female aspects of the 18 character “alphabet” of the Gaulish Lepontic script. The concept is the same as how Japa beads are made in the east. The acorns are symbolic of the wisdom and understanding that drop from the Oak tree from which the word Druid is derived, Oak being Dru  Wid meaning “Knower”.
